Law makers, City mayors, friends of Tibet and Tibetans from nine countries in Central and Eastern Europe observed the 63rd commemoration of Tibetan National Uprising Day, on 10 March. Continued support for Tibetan freedom movement and peaceful resistance against the Chinese oppression echoed from Switzerland to Slovakia, Czech Republic to Germany and Hungary to Italy. The Tibetan National Uprising Day was also observed in Austria, Bulgaria and Liechtenstein.
In Switzerland, several hundreds of Tibetans and supporters joined the demonstration organised by the Tibetan Community of Switzerland & Liechtenstein, in Bern, capital city of Switzerland. The demonstration was joined by Swiss parliamentarian Hon’ble Fabian Molina addressed the gathering on behalf of Swiss- Parliamentary Group for Tibet. Speaking at the gathering, he expressed solidarity and assured the Swiss-parliamentary group for Tibet continued attention and support for the just cause of Tibet.

Similarly, municipal councillor of the city of Lausanne (Greens) IIias Panchard addressed the gathering. Representative Chhimey Rigzen accompanied by staff Tenzin Choesang joined the demonstration. In Liechtenstein, the officials expressed their solidarity by hoisting the Tibetan National flag in front of the cultural center.
In Germany, Tibetans and supporters observed the Tibetan National uprising in Berlin, Stuttgart, Munich among other cities.
Hon’ble Michael Brand, German parliamentarian and Chairman of German-parliamentary for Group for Tibet, addressed the gathering. Furthermore, representatives from Uyghur people joined the demonstration. In Italy, in addition to the Tibetan community’s event observing the day, various city councils, including city council in Turin and Todi (Umbria), marked the 63rd Tibetan national uprising day along with the members of city councils.
Hon’ble Ondrej Dostal, joined by other Slovakia parliamentarians support for Tibet unfurled Tibetan national flag to express solidarity and joined Tibetans and supporters in commemoration of the 63rd Tibetan National Uprising Day, from Slovakia.
In Czech Republic, apart from overwhelming Tibetan National Flag hoisting across the country, Tibetans and a large number of Czech supporters gathered in front of the Chinese embassy to protest continued China’s occupation of Tibet.
In Austria, Tibetans and Save Tibet team commemorated the 10 March Tibetan national uprising by organising an event in front of the Chinese Embassy and marched towards the city of Vienna, Austria.
Friends of Tibet from Bulgaria and Hungary similarly joined and observed the 10 March Tibetan national uprising day. In Hungary, a demonstration was held in front of the Chinese Embassy in addition to placing Tibetan flag and “Free Tibet” banner over Budapest’s tunnel-chain bridge.
