Students of Tibetan Weekend School Observe 9th Tibetan Language Day in Zurich
Students from 20 Tibetan weekend schools across Switzerland and Liechtenstein gathered in Zurich to celebrate the 9th Tibetan Language Day on 21 September 2024.
A total of 430 Tibetan students participated in various activities, including calligraphy and reading competitions, debates, and poetry recitation.
Tenzin Choesang from the Office of Tibet, Geneva, and Kelsang Namgyal, Vice President of the Tibetan community in Switzerland & Liechtenstein (TCSL), attended the day as its chief guests, along with parents and teachers of the students.
The event commenced with a welcome address from the Director of the Tibetan weekend schools, Karma Choekyi, followed by an address from the two distinguished guests. In her keynote speech, Tenzin Choesang underscored the importance of preserving and promoting the Tibetan language and cultural heritage to ensure their continuous existence.
Later that evening, the outstanding students were bestowed with awards.
