Geneva: Mr. Ngodup Dorjee, Representative of HH the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration to eastern and central Europe has first time meeting with Member Parliament of Hungary and co-President of Politics Can Be Different (Lehet Más a Politika; LMP) and Green Party Dr. Szél Bernadett on 26th Jan 2018 in Budapest, Hungary.
According to the video news reports in the social media recently showing that MP Ms. Szél Bernadett raising strong voice of support in the Hungarian Parliament on Tibet and the Tibet Bureau has requested through Tibet Support group’s President Mr. Tibor Handrey and Mr. Karma Dorjee of Hungary to get meeting appointment. Being busy schedule Ms. Szél Bernadett has graciously accepted our request saying that 26th Jan 2018 would be most suitable date for the meeting.
Thus, Representative Ngodup Dorjee has embarked to Budapest and extend heartfelt thanks for her strong voice of support and also briefed current human rights situation in Tibet under Chinese authority ranging from destruction of Buddhist academic in Serthar county, arbitrary detention, torture, 151 cases of self-immolation since 2009 and denial of basic rights.
Dr. Szél Bernadett was elected Member of Parliament from the party’s national list in the 2014 parliamentary election. She became a member of the Committee on National Security 6 May 2014. After the resignation of Erzsébet Schmuck, Szél was elected leader of the LMP parliamentary group on 16 February 2017. In September 2017, Bernadett Szél was nominated the party’s candidate to the position of Prime Minister for the upcoming parliamentary election.
Finally, Representative Ngodup Dorjee has presented a canvas painting of Lord Buddha (Thangka) to Ms. Szél Bernadett as token of gratitude and urged for consistent support in the years to come and she assured for full support and expressed her solidarity with Tibetan cause.
