GENEVA: Under coordination of the Tibet Bureau in Geneva, Tibetan Communities from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland & Liechtenstein and United Kingdom in close association with Swiss Tibetan Friendship Association, Tibetan Youth Association in Europe, Swiss Tibetan Women’s Organization and International Campaign for Tibet jointly organised EUROPE STANDS WITH TIBET rally part III in Geneva to mark 59th Tibetan National Uprising day led by two Tibetan Parliamentarian from Europe Ven Thubten Wangchen and Mr Samdho Jampa Tsering.
Chief Guest of the event Kalon Karma Yeshi of the Central Tibetan Administration with several other dignitaries led the rally along with Monks from Rikon monastery followed by Tibetans and supporters.
The rally program started from Jardin Anglais (English Garden) in Geneva old city up to Palais des Nations (UN) raising slogan.
The 59th Tibetan National Uprising day with EUROPE STANDS WITH TIBET program was observed at Palais des Nations with voices of support from Mr Rémy Pagani, Mayor of the Geneva City as host city followed by read out statement of Mr Michael Brand and Mrs. Maria Klein-Schmeink of German Bundestag (member of the German Tibet group) by Mr Kai Müller of ICT, Mr René Longet, former Mayor of Onex city of Geneva canton, Ms Lisa Mazzone, Swiss Parliamentarian for Tibet support group, Mr. Thomas Mann, MEP and President of Tibet Interest Group of EP, Mm. Molly Scot-Cato, MEP from UK, Mm. Jacquiline Eustache-Brinio, French Senator, Ambassador Mr. Giulio Terzi di Santagta, Fr. Foreign Minister of Italy, Mr Norman Baker, Fr. Minister of State at the Home of UK, Mr. Martin Bursik, Fr. Dy. Prime Minister of Czech Republic and Mr. Claudio Cardelli, President of Italy Tibet Association.
Kalon Karma Yeshi, chief guest of the day addressed the gathering on the over all political situations inside Tibet and the case of latest self-immolation by Tsekho from Ngaba’s Meruma township of Sichuan province. He reminded the International Community that issue of Tibet is just and truthful. Thus injustice from the International Community to Tibet issue is a threat to the principle of Justice and Democracy in the world. Therefore, the International Community including UN has high responsible to support the cause of Tibet. Kalon has also urged the Tibetan people to be more united and active towards cause of Tibet.
In between the program, famous singer Shiley Grimes and Loden Namling presented patriotic song.
The program concluded with prayer of truth from Rikon monastery’s monks led by Khen Rinpoche. Around 4000 Tibetans and Tibet supporters participated in this Rally from all over the Europe despite of unfavorable weather condition in Geneva. The same rally has also been coordinated first time in Brussels in the year 2013 followed by 2015 in Paris.
A press conference was also held on 8 March at Geneva Press Club with key speakers; Mr. Thomas Büchli, President of Swiss Tibetan Friendship Association, Kalon Karma Yeshi of CTA and Mr Tenzin Nyingbu, President of Tibetan Community in Switzerland & Liechtenstein.
