Tibetan communities in Switzerland, Italy and Austria contribute towards fight against COVID-19
Geneva: The Tibetan community in Switzerland, Italy and Austria, under the jurisdiction of Tibet Bureau Geneva, donated to organizations that give emergency assistance to those impacted hardest by Wuhan-originated coronavirus pandemic.
The Wuhan-originated pandemic has caused an unprecedented global health crisis that called for a collective response from all walks of life to mitigate the impacts.
In accordance with the guidance from the Central Tibetan Administration, Tibetan communities in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Italy and Austria made donations in a mark of solidarity for COVID-19 relief fund managed by reputable charity NGOs and organizations.
Expressing gratitude to the people and government of Switzerland for setting an example by not only becoming the first western country to welcome Tibetan refugees but also accepting the country’s first non-European refugees in 1960s, Tibetan Community in Switzerland and Liechtenstein has made solidarity donation of CHF 12, 576 (Twelve Thousand Five Hundred and Seventy-Six only) to three different humanitarian charity groups.
Tibetan community in Switzerland has donated CHF 11086 (Eleven thousand and Eighty-Six Swiss Franc) for pandemic impact mitigation services carried by Swiss Solidarity (Glückskette) in close collaboration with the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health.
Tibetan community of Schaffhausen, Switzerland has contributed CHF 830 (Eight hundred and Thirty Franc) to Canton’s Social Welfare Office (Kantonales Sozialamt), that looks after the welfare of asylum seekers and differently able people, inter alia, and the Tibetan community in Liechtenstein has contributed CHF 660/-(Six hundred and Sixty Swiss Frac) to SOS Kinderdorf that spearheads precaution to protect children, adolescents and employees from corona virus in 136 countries and areas.
Tibetan community in Austria has donated EURO 7947 (Seven Thousand Nine hundred and Forty-Seven EURO) towards the pandemic’s relief work undertaken by Amnesty International-Austria. While expressing solidarity for the victims of coronavirus and support to nation’s fight against coronavirus, the community members thanked all coronavirus frontline humanitarian workers.
Tibetan community in Italy has donated Euro 1465 (One thousand four hundred and Sixty-five EURO) for the emergency services and supports undertaken by Croce Rossa Italiana, Italian national Red Cross Society. The ongoing pandemic was first confirmed to have spread in Italy in early this year when two Chinese tourists in Rome were tested positive for the virus. Italy is one of the hardest-hit countries by the Wuhan originated pandemic.
