Geneva: Paralleling the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council (22 February to 23 March), the Tibet Bureau Geneva will be holding a virtual side-event to discuss the human rights situation in Tibet on 1 March 2021. The virtual panel will be broadcast live via the Tibet TV Facebook page between 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm (Indian Time), 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm (Geneva Time) 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm (London time) 9:00 am to 10:30 am (New York time).
The panellists include Dr Adrian Zenz, senior fellow in China Studies at the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation; Kate Saunders, author and Tibet Specialist and Thinlay Chukki, Special Appointee for Human Rights at Tibet Bureau Geneva. The panel will be moderated by Kalden Tsomo, UN Advocacy Officer at the Tibet Bureau Geneva. The panel will take live questions through the Facebook comment section.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, significant restrictions continue to be in place since March 2020. No in-person participation including the holding of side events is allowed on the UN premises. Hence, the side event to discuss the ongoing human rights situation in Tibet is being hosted virtually.
