On the occasion of 87th birthday of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and spiritual leader of Tibet His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, parliamentary group for Tibet from Switzerland extended their warmest birthday wishes to His Holiness.
In the message from Parliamentary group for Tibet from Switzerland, the co-presidents of Swiss-Parliamentary group for Tibet Hon’ble Andrea Geissbühler; Hon’ble Nik Gugger; Hon’ble Fabian Molina; Hon’ble Nicolas Walder and Vice-President Hon’ble Maya Graf said the members of the Parliamentary Group for Tibet sends its best wishes for a long life, together with the hope that His Holiness’s “vision of an autonomous, self-determined, peaceful Tibet committed to the preservation of the natural environment may be fulfilled.” The parliamentarians further stated that His Holiness the Dalai Lama has been “one of the most credible exponents of public life”.
Highlighting His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s lifelong commitment to non-violence and promotion of religious harmony, the Parliamentary Group noted His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s tireless efforts “to overcome religious fanaticism and the boundaries between religions.”
The members of the group also expressed deep concerns over continued violations of human rights by China in Tibet and urged the Swiss Federal to call upon the government of China to respect fundamental rights of Tibetan people in their homeland.
The letter concluded by saying “Tibet was a victim of an aggressive neighbouring country more than 70 years ago, just as the Ukrainian people are unfortunately currently experiencing at the hands of their brutal neighbour Russia.” Click here to read the letter of Swiss Parliamentary Group for Tibet
Also, on behalf of the Swiss-Tibetan Friendship Association, its President and Vice-President Thomas Büchli and Lhawang Ngorkhagsar respectively assured to work closely with the Swiss-Parliamentary Group for Tibet to bring Tibet and the vision of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the parliament of Switzerland.
