The Central Tibetan Administration held a One-Day Europe Strategy meeting in Prague, Czech Republic, on 28 August 2022. The meeting was jointly organised by the Permanent Strategy Committee of the 16th Kashag and the Tibet Bureau-Geneva.
The hybrid meeting chaired by Sikyong Penpa Tsering was attended in person by Permanent Strategy Committee Advisor Kelsang Gyaltsen, Representative Genkhang Rigzin Choedon from OoT Brussels, Representative Thinlay Chukki and UN Advocacy Officer Kalden Tsomo from Tibet Bureau-Geneva and OoT London Secretary Lobsang Samten. Members of CTA’s Permanent Strategy Committee: Political Secretary Tashi Gyatso, DIIR Secretary Karma Choeying, and Additional Secretary of Kashag Secretariat Lobsang Choedak joined the meeting virtually along with Representative Sonam Frasi from OoT London, DIIR Additional Secretaries Namgyal Tsewang and Tenzin Lekshay as well as Secretary Dhundup Gyalpo from Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, New Delhi.
Former Deputy Prime Minister of Czech Republic and Founder of Czechs Support Tibet Martin Bursik, Director of the Czech-based think tank Sinopsis Dr Martin Hala, Director of Forum 2000 Jakup Klepal, Board Member of Italia-Tibet Association Dr Gunther Cologna as well as ICT-Europe Executive Director Wangpo Tethong and Vincent Metten from ICT-Brussels spoke at the meeting.
The meeting aimed at understanding Europe’s evolving geo-political landscape, discussing the strategic approach to engaging the EU on Tibet from both bilateral and multilateral platforms and identifying opportunities and challenges for Tibet within the EU.
Sikyong Penpa Tsering is currently in Prague for a week-long official engagement, including meetings with officials and parliamentarians and addressing the 26th edition of the Forum 2000.
