Kalon Norzin Dolma, Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR), and Hon’ble Leonardo Varasano, Minister for Culture, Perugia, along with Representative Thinlay Chukki inaugurated a three-week photo exhibition titled “Tibet: Heart of Asia” in Perugia, Italy on Friday, 30 September 2022.
The exhibition depicting the story of Tibet – occupation by China, life in exile and continued repression- is jointly organised by Municipality of Perugia and Italia-Tibet Association.
The “Tibet: Heart of Asia” exhibition consists of fifty-two giant eloquent, symbolic and fascinating images, captured by the President of the Italy-Tibet Association, documentary maker for RAI and photographer Claudio Cardelli. In his over forty years of association with Tibet and travels, Claudio Cardelli has captured and collected images from all territories of Tibetan culture in Central Asia to tell the stories of Tibet in Italy.
Shortly after landing in Rome on 29 September, Kalon Norzin Dolma met with former members of the Italy Parliamentary Group for Tibet and Tibet Support Groups. Kalon Norzin Dolma thanked all the former members of Italy Parliamentary Group for Tibet, including its President Luciano Nobili, Antonella Incerti and Matteo Luigi Bianchi, along with other members, for their support for the just cause of Tibet, and urged them to continue their support for Tibet in their various other capacities. Former members of the parliamentary group expressed their appreciation for her gesture and assured to stay with Tibet for all years to come.
Following the meeting, Kalon held an interactive meeting with Tibet Support Groups and Friends of Tibet based in Rome. The meeting was also joined by several local Tibetans, including resident monks from Tibetan Buddhist centers in the vicinity.
Kalon, accompanied by Representative Thinlay Chukki, is scheduled to travel to Milano on 30 September for the Europe Tibetan Associations’ Third Annual General Meeting.
