On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Tibetan community in Liechtenstein, Prince of Liechtenstein Hans-Adam II graced the “Thank you Liechtenstein” event organised by the Tibetan community of Liechtenstein on 22 April 2023. Members of the community gathered to express profound gratitude and to thank the people and government of Liechtenstein for granting a second home to Tibetan refugees in Liechtenstein.
Representative Thinlay Chukki, along with President of Gemeinde Balzers Herr Hansjörg Büchel; President Karma Choekyi and Vice President Tenzin Wangdue of the Tibetan Community of Switzerland & Liechtenstein, Former Member of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile Samdho Jampa together with other guests joined the members of the community for the event.
While addressing the gathering, Representative Thinlay Chukki thanked Prince Hans-Adam II for his presence and the generosity extended to Tibet and Tibetans for all these years. Had it not been for the generosity and kindness of Prince Hans-Adma II, his government and the people of Liechtenstein, Tibetan people would not have found Liechtenstein as their second home, said Representative Thinlay. Liechtenstein has not just extended protection arms for the Tibetan refugees, but also embraced and empowered Tibetan refugees in the preservation of Tibetan culture, identity and values, added Representative Thinlay. She commended Tibetans in Liechtenstein for their active participation and preservation of Tibetan culture, identity and language alongside their successful integration and contributions to the Liechtenstein community.
On behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and Tibetans from across the globe, Representative Thinlay gifted two books: Freedom in Exile, an autobiography of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and The Dalai Lama’s Special Envoy: Memories of a Lifetime in Pursuit of a Reunited Tibet by Kasur Gyari Lodi Gyaltsen, to Prince Hans-Adam II as a token of gratitude.
Representative Thinlay also thanked the President of Gemeinde Balzers for his presence and his support for Tibetans.
Members of the community, including students Tibetan weekend school in Liechtenstein, presented Tibetan cultural songs and performed various traditional dances as part of the program.
