Representative Thinlay Chukki of the Tibet Bureau delivered a written message from His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the Peace stupa inauguration in Grafenworth, Austria, on 04 June 2023. The Peace Stupa was built under the efforts and dedication of Bop Jon Sunim Tenzin Tharchin and Elisabeth Lindmayer with consistent support by President of Austrian Municipalities Mayor Alfred Riedlmany and other individuals.
Observing the Buddhist holy month of Saka Dawa full moon day, the Tibetan Buddhist religious ceremony including the consecration of the stupa led by Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche accompanied by monks from Drikung monastery was joined by Representative Thinlay Chukki along with president of Austrian municipalities Mayor Alfred Riedl; representative of provincial governor Christiane-Hofmeister and other guests.
Commending the efforts of the Peace Stupa team under the leadership of Bop Sunim, Representative Thinlay read out the written message of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the occasion of the peace stupa inauguration.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama sent prayers and said “stupa has a meaningful significance in Buddhist culture as it represents aspects of enlightenment. In general, they are sources of spiritual inspiration, as their function is to support the faith of the practitioners in their endeavours to become warm-hearted and compassionate individuals.”His Holiness urged the visitors of the stupa to “think of how they can contribute towards a more peaceful world”, considering the stupa was built to be dedicated for peace. His Holiness the Dalai Lama emphasized “Peace comes through action and not through prayers alone ”. His Holiness concluded the message by offering prayers and good wishes. While in Austria, Representative Thinlay visited the new office space of the Tibetan Community in Austria and held an interactive meeting with executive members of the community in Austria on various issues. Furthermore, Representative Thinlay held a meeting with the President of Tibet Support Group, SaveTibet-Austria, Katherin Müller, and also met with a Member of the National Council of Austria Hon’ble Ulrike Fischer.
