Tibetans in Switzerland Celebrate 88th Birth Anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Tibetan Community of Switzerland & Liechtenstein celebrating 88th birth anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

 

As Tibetans and supporters across the world joined together to celebrate the joyous occasion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 88th birth anniversary, the Tibetan Community of Switzerland & Liechtenstein gathered at Tibet Institute Rikon and marked the day by organising mass prayers for good health and longevity of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Tenzin Choesang from the Tibet Bureau- Geneva attended the religious ceremony on behalf of the office. While addressing the gathering, Tenzin Choesang said, “The best gift to celebrate the occasion would be following the teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and cultivating a good human nature and compassionate mind.”

Additionally, the Tibetan community of Switzerland & Liechtenstein organised a community gathering on 9 July in Zurich and celebrated the 88th birth anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

The gathering was attended by the abbot of the Tibet Institute Rikon, Ven. Thupten Legmen; Swiss Parliamentarian and co-president of Parliamentary Group for Tibet, Hon’ble Nik Gugger; Tenzin Choesang of the Tibet Bureau; and other guests and members of the community.

The president of the Tibetan Community of Switzerland and Liechtenstein extended greetings during the celebration while Ven Thupten Legmen implored Tibetans to be good human beings and follow the teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Tenzin Choesang from the Tibet Bureau echoed the same and called community members to unite to protect Tibetan culture and uphold compassionate values.

In his address, the Parliamentarian and co-president of the Swiss Parliamentary Group for Tibet, Hon’ble Nik Gugger, assured to extend his continued support for the betterment of the Tibetan community and the cause of Tibet.

Cultural dance troupes from various sections of the Tibetan community and associations in Switzerland performed a wide range of Tibetan cultural songs and dances to mark the 88th birth anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
