Cinema Barberini in Rome Hosts Special Screening of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s Documentary Titled “Wisdom of Happiness”

On 14 October 2025, the Cinema Barberini in Rome hosted a special screening of the documentary “Dalai Lama,Wisdom of Happiness” a moving portrait of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, celebrating his 90th birthday. The film showcases a rare personal footage, powerful historical archives, vivid scenes of the global challenges facing humanity today, together with the Dalai Lama’s powerful messages addressing viewers directly.
The event was organised with the participation of the Italia-Tibet Association, Italy-Tibet Parliamentary Intergroup, La Casa del Tibet, Tibetan Women’s Association, members of the Tibetan community in Italy and many notable guests in attendance.
The 80-seat were sold out in the theatre, a reflection of strong public interest in the film.The documentary combines rare archival footage, personal reflections, and contemporary global imagery to trace the life of the Dalai Lama from his early years in Tibet through decades of exile and spiritual leadership.
The event opened with the remarks by Marilia Bellaterra, National Councillor of the Association and President of AREF International ETS followed by Matteo Angioli, representing the Italy-Tibet Parliamentary Intergroup, who spoke on behalf of President Andrea De Priamo, where he emphasised on the group’s past achievements and future initiatives.
Geshe Dorjee Wangchuk, resident Lama of the Samantabhadra Institute, delivered a heartfelt address, offering khatas- a traditional ceremonial scarves.
Attendees were provided informational materials from the Italia-Tibet Association, including its latest brochure highlighting the organisation’s ongoing political and social activities under the leadership of President Claudio Cardelli and the Executive Committee.
Among the guests was Jordan River, director of the film Joachim and the Apocalypse, who gave an engaging talk about the potential involvement of schools.
The association extended special thanks to Director Othman Badran, owner Francesca Saviotti, and staff member Silvio Scarpelli of Cinema Barberini for their professionalism and hospitality, which contributed to the event’s success.
